About:          “The City of Toronto, George Brown College and Waterfront Toronto completed the land sale on March 31, 2017. George Brown College will now begin extensive design and municipal planning approvals of the planned campus expansion, which will include enhanced sustainability beyond the required LEED Gold.”

”To be known as “The Arbour”, the building will be designed to function as a “living laboratory” for climate-friendly building design, serving as the home of a new Tall Wood Building Research Institute, George Brown’s Centre for Information and Computer Technology, a new child care facility, and additional research facilities. A number of smart building systems will be integrated into the project with an aim towards attaining carbon-neutral status.”

“It will be funded in part from the federal government’s Post-Secondary Institutions Strategic Investment Fund, which will be the source of $15.6 million.”

“In the fall [2017], the college will launch an international design competition among the firms uniquely qualified to undertake such a project.”

The Arbour will become a demonstration facility that drives forward advancements in sustainable innovation”
