Tåsinge Plads
Tåsinge Plads is Copenhagen’s first climate-resilient urban space.
It was developed by Københavns Kommune
GOAL
The goal of the project was to control as much as possible of the rainwater falling around the green oasis square.
ACTION TAKEN
Developers built two manual pumps, which were also designed as playground equipment with the help of large tanks, which were installed below the ground it will be easier to collect the rainwater. The water will be pumped out of the biggest water drop, where it will flow on the surface and end in the retention basin.
RESULT
Currently, the square can handle rising volumes of rain at street level. Here 10,000 ft2 of unused asphalt has been turned into urban nature. Tåsinge Plads can delay and process rainwater from a surrounding area of 46,000 ft2. Also, it became a great neighborhood place to meet.
